scope of work


UDC was appointed as client advisor for remedial works at Victoria Mill, a grade II* listed building. the works were being carried out by the superior landlord and their agents and our role was to ensure that these were delivered in a manner that maintained full compliance with healthcare regulations. UDC was also responsible for managing the relocation of NHS staff from the building and co-ordinating their return once the works were completed.


the primary objective was to ensure that NHS staff continued to operate from suitable, compliant accommodation throughout the project. a key element of this project was that UDC did not provide design input but instead reviewed proposals produced by the landlord’s agent to verify their suitability for NHS operational needs.

challenges faced


Victoria Mill’s grade II* listed status introduced additional complexity, requiring close coordination with the listed building authority to ensure that all works were carried out in line with heritage requirements.


relocating healthcare staff and services posed significant logistical challenges. it was essential to manage these moves in a way that preserved continuity of care and avoided disruption to services. detailed planning and collaboration were key to ensuring a smooth transition out of and back into the facility.


throughout the project, healthcare compliance remained the top priority. every decision was guided by the need to reinstate the health centre as a fully functional and regulation-compliant clinical setting.

outcome


the project was successfully delivered, with NHS staff returning to an updated and fully compliant health centre. despite the constraints associated with a listed structure and the need to maintain continuous healthcare provision, all objectives were met. the outcome reflects UDC’s capability in delivering effective client advisory and project management services within a complex and highly regulated environment.
